What is activation?

Each EQ6 program comes with a license ID and password. After installing, the program must be "unlocked" by activating over the internet so you can use it. When you buy EQ6, you are purchasing 4 activations.

When are activations used or not used?

Uses a new Activation	*Does not* use a new Activation**
install and activate on a different computer	install and activate, uninstall and reinstall on the same computer (without making any system changes)
	install and activate on one partition, uninstall and reinstall on a different partition on the same drive
	install and activate on one drive, uninstall and reinstall on a different drive of the same computer
	install and activate as one user profile (Jim), uninstall and reinstall as a different user profile (Sally)
	install and activate, rollback using System Restore, reinstall and reactivate*
Reformatting the drive on which Windows is installed	Windows is installed on C drive, install on EQ6 on D drive, reformat D drive, reinstall
Reinstall Windows using a different Windows key	Reinstall Windows using the same Windows key without reformatting the drive, reinstall and reactivate*
	Move C drive from computer A to computer B

*Please note: These system changes require connection to the internet to reactivate the software, but do not count as a separate activation.

Getting more activations

You can activate EQ6 four (4) times without contact to our technical support group. After that, you will have to contact Electric Quilt specifying the reason for an additional activation. Each request will be evaluated on a case by case basis when the need arises.

Electric Quilt has earned a reputation for terrific support of users. They intend to continue to merit that reputation. But, because software piracy has become an increasing concern for all software developers, they must implement policies that will help prevent software piracy. Clearly, this is also in the interest of all our legitimate users.

Users experiencing defective computer issues beyond their control will surely be helped without cost. Users with candid and straightforward requests made to run EQ6 on more than 4 computers may be permitted to purchase a single (1) activation for $37.50 ($US). Electric Quilt Company reserves the right to adjust this price and to deny any request that may not be in the best interest of our legitimate users whom we are determined to support.
